Tech work in Central Alberta is real, but it is quieter than Calgary or Edmonton. The trick is to be findable and connected rather than to wait for a big local job board to appear. Here is where the work actually comes from.

Where the jobs are

• Local employers — manufacturing, energy services, ag, health, the city, the college and the school divisions all run IT and software teams.

• Contract and freelance — small businesses around here need websites, spreadsheets, integrations and automation far more than they need another agency.
• Through people — a surprising share of local roles are never posted. Someone in the room knows someone.

How to be findable

• Tell people plainly what you do and what you want. Vagueness is expensive.
